Title: POLAR SPIRITS | Posted on 2013 04 19 in Blog

A northern spectacle

I've always been fascinated by the phenomenon of the Aurora. The way the light and colour dances and plays in the sky is simply enchanting - and a perfect reminder of the myriad wonders of our wonderful world.

Standing on the arctic snowfields of Norway or Sweden with the lights in full flight in the sky above has been on my bucket list for as long as I've been aware of the aurora's etheral existence. A close friend lived in Sweden and says they also make a noise as well. Science can explain the reasons for this delightful phenomena, but I'm more interested in how the ancient people of the region explained its presence and the ways it was built into their mythology. Watching this video had me mesmerised. Stunning photography. Awe-inspiring subject.
