Rollers at Ross River

The development shoot for Hit the Road Jane has kicked off today in central Australia.

The all-female crew - producer/director Emma Masters, director of photography Gemma Thornton and sound recordist Aimee Mullins - will spend the next 10 days following solo women travellers.

The women, who call themselves rollers, have travelled from all corners of Australia to meet at Ross River Resort for the first time, after having connected through Facebook and formed a 6000-plus community of likeminded women.

The development shoot will not only involve interviews and casting for a documentary project on the sisterhood of the travelling vans, it will include showcasing the Central Australian desert and the stunning East MacDonnell ranges.
