Adelaide International Documentary Conference - part 2

OK, I'm getting the hang of this gig - and its fun. The Adelaide International Documentary Conference is a great opportunity to hear about the latest trends and what's hot and what's not with broadcasters in Australia and across the world. On one level you hear from people who say you need to link in with a major broadcaster or perish, yet in other sessions you hear stories where content makers have been rejected by commissioners but have followed their dream and raised money through other means (crowd funding, philanthropic, rich relatives) and screened through festivals - only to have broadcasters knocking on their door once the festival crowd applauses begin echoing down the aisles of the major networks. Tough game, but a good story is a good story, and one of the most exciting aspects to being here is  there are so many different broadcasters looking for such a variety of formats and content, it sparks hope there are avenues for even the most obscure films. Now that's inspiring!
